Hello, I'm currently writing an essay and substantial amount of text I took from website, where well-known author provided her view of my topic.
I wonder if it's legal to add her opinion in my work if I quote her point of view with her name in my essay. I just don't want it to be considered as plagiarism.

Thinker, my advice is to contact this author directly and ask her permission, otherwise you may face copyright charges. Shocked

Thinker, maybe you can get without quoting that much of text in your essay. You could just say that Author X has an original vision of the problem. Then tell about her vision in a few sentences. Anyway, it's always good to contact the author. On the other hand, one needs to be tactful when doing this, because contacts of such kind may be very annoying to writers or someone you quote.

Thanks, Audry. Actually I did just what you said and decided not to annoy the author.  I like author's viewpoint but I've looked on the topic from another angle and discribed it on my own.
