There is a topic about inspiration. I think motivation is somehow related to inspiration, but still it's a bit different thing. What factors are the strongest ones to motivate you work even when you don't feel like working?

When I receive an interesting topic from my customer I have more motivation to write. If a topic is of a particular interest for me I can write days and nights long. Unfortunately it happens rarely  Angry

And visa versa when a topic does not match my interests I need to put extra efforts to write anything and the process usually takes longer. And what do others think?

I guess I’m money motivated. When I do not get any orders for a long time I become really worried especially if you’ve got a family to keep.

And if there is a well-paid writing topic available I’m ready to accept it, not paying attention if it is particularly interesting. That’s my simple monetary motivation.  Wink

Uh, I hate such approach. I mean I know how difficult life may be in financial terms, but being absolutely money motivated is so unhealthy...

When I was a teen I thought that whatever a person does it should be done with love and because of desire to do that. But now I know that in most cases it hardly goes  that way. We often need to do something just because we have to do it, not because we are happy over that. The same is with job. You may like it, but you will not enjoy all its aspects, will you?

I haven't commented in this thread yet, though the issue is indeed important. Actually I think that each post here has some portion of truth. Yeah, money motivates most people in many life spheres Wink and job is not the only one. On the other hand if you are doing something just because of money it's not gonna work for a long time. You need to be excited by your job and feel inner motivation to work further.
Money+love to your work make a great combination in terms of motivation Wink Smiley

Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field

I know several examples where people are not motivated by the money and they hardly love the job they do. I’m talking about situation when for example people desperately need help of others.  I mean volunteers who perform non-paid job. They earn nothing but they get a very positive feeling that their job is badly needed.
