Finding balance - this one can be tough for me. I have a toddler, and I started freelancing during my pregnancy, after the burdens of my "day job" were causing me a lot of undue stress. I wanted to stay home with my daughter, and I have always loved writing, so a freelance writing career from home was a natural choice for me. It hasn't been easy, though. It's really hard to find the time to make deadlines around a two year olds nap schedule. I've been lucky in that the majority of my writing jobs allow me to not have to worry about strict deadlines, and I have a few ongoing projects that are very flexible that bring in a steady pay check. But it took me about a year to find the best routine to keep me most productive. I can't say I really have many complaints. The freelance life is MUCH MUCH better than the daily commutes, screaming bosses, etc.... at least, for me.
