I’ve heard from my friend that he uses voice recognition software. I don’t know exactly what it is but he is very happy with performance.  Does anyone use dictation software in his/her work?  Are there any faults in recognition?  I’m thinking of buying one and need some advice.

I use Dragon naturally speaking. Almost all I say is correctly recognized, there are some minor errors. So generally I save much time.  Smiley  The program is easy to install and use. But you should bear in mind that you will need to edit the file after dictation. There are programs by other manufacturers but this one is the most popular.

It seems you need to teach the program to recognize you speech by dictating text. In the beginning Dragon makes a lot of mistakes but after several attempts the recognition quality gets better.

Currently I don’t use it because I think I look a bit stupid talking to my computer  Smiley

I know people who can type faster than they talk and they got used to typing and editing process. So I guess this kinda soft is for talkers.
