Hello, all!
I've been out of writing for about 6 years and want to start freelancing again. Thing are more technological right now.
I used to be interviewed only in person or via phone. I've heard a lot about online and e-mail interviews and would like some advice or information. What way they are normally conducted and what is the regular scheme? Thanks so much in advance.

Iwriter, although things are really more technological today, basic techniques are the same I believe. Especially if we are talking about interviews via phone. As for e-mails, first you have to ask a person or his/her assistant about interview. Whether it's possible, etc. After receiving confirmation, prepare your questions. There should be not many of them and they have to be very specific. Sounds very common, I know...But that's actually it  |

I haven't been interviewed by e-mail, but I know about a lot of online application forms whcih exists. Several times I had to complete them, it's not like a traditional interview, because there is no person in front of you and you don't need to speak, but in some cases questions were as well unpredictableю Moreover there could be time limitations.
Once I had interview via Skype. It was like ordinary interview, but I felt more relaxed. I'm sure such practice will be common soon.

I prefer to see a person face to face while being interviewed. Skype might be a kind of solution but not for me - visual contact is essential.

I understand you, but the employer is not interested in your preferences  He (or she) assigns interview by Skype and the only choice you have is to accept or reject this job. |

I agree with Calvin. Personal meeting are a must at least for full time positions. Modern HR staff has some psychological techniques, they want to see how you look, how you answer questions and your reaction. And this can be done only in person.

Web camera is necessary for web-interview, in other way it would be "chat" or "questionnaire". I mean, the web-camera would not show that I'm drinking beer, because I won't drink it from a bottle |
