I suggest discussing movies in this thread. The ones that influenced you greatly, the ones that made you rethink some issues, the ones you love.

Hold fast to dreams

Life is a barren field

Thank you, Sandy, for starting this thread Wink
Speaking about myself I am very sentimental person so I love romantic kind of movies very much.
I must confess that some movies can make me cry.
One of my favorite ones is "Casablanca" with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. This movie is more than 60 years old and it is really touching masterpiece of cinematography.
All of the movies below are my favorites, I can watch them over and over again:
"Gone With The Wind"
"A walk To Remember"
"Sweet November"
"Blind Date"
"9 1/2 Weeks".

Your list of great movies can hardly be disputed Smiley
I just adore Vivien Leigh in "Gone With the Wind"!
She is so beautiful and her Scarlett O'Hara is greatly performed!

I've never understood passion for movies Undecided
My wife is crazy about movies, actors, etc., while I'm a more 'theater man', not that I'm an embodied theater Smiley I just love live performance when I can see actors' eyes, where I can feel the whole atmosphere. Movies are not that authentic.

I’m fan of “Star Wars”. I was really amazed by the first film “Episode IV: A New Hope” be George Lucas released in 1977. The cosmic battles and special visual effects were far ahead of time. This revolutionary movie had a similar effect in cinema industry as Beatles in music!

I was desperately waiting for new episodes when they were announced. New episodes featuring Evan McGregor and Natalie Portman exceeded my expectations. By the way Natalie Portman is my favorite actress.  Wink

“Star wars” is more than a movie, it’s a religion!

That depends. Sometimes film directors create marvelous pieces of art. Sure movies are different from theaters. But they both have advantegous peculiarities.  Wink

There is one movie that motivated me to work at becoming a better writer -- "A River Runs Through It"  The book on which it is based, by Norman Mclean, is just page after page of remarkably beautiful writing. And the screenplay, which I think was done By Robert Redford, holds true to the original by using much of Mclean's original phrasing, descriptions, et al.

The last film which I've seen is "Nordkraft". It's Danish film and it  follows the fate of three youthful people as they each fight a personal battle with drugs. Especially I like the story of Allan. He is the  sailor returning home from a long trip overseas the Pacific Ocean and he meets his old friend (Frank) who forces him to deliver drugs. Allan's girlfriend who hates drugs - leaves him and doesn't want to see him anymore.  Allan delivered two large sacks of drugs and met with Frank on the bridge. They stood at different sides and Allan threw those sacks right into the water!! Of course Frank was mad, but he did nothing to Allan. And his girl came to him next morning "to drink coffee". I see happy-end in this story, although it is rather gloomy
